I dont know whether Picassa offers this feature or not. But Joining various photography interest groups in Flickr has rekindled my interest in this pretty costly venture( After all some passions are not easy to follow.)
But I dont know whether the photographs are copyrighted?

Religion and us
When one person suffers from delusion it is called insanity.
When many people suffer from delusion it is called Religion
- Robert M. Pirsig, author of Zen and the Art of Motor Cycle Maintenance.
Very apt with what is happening in
1) Mangalore (Attack on the churches)
2) Nun's Rape in orissa
3) Bomb blasts throughout India
And incidentally, these are the times when one needs religion the most. As it provides you the strength to endure the pain caused. But its like an opium in the hands of fanatics.
All I need to say is wake up my friends and watch around before its too late and the scars which no time can heal.
The song that plays in the background.(Pink Floyd)
Did you see the frightened ones
Did you hear the falling bombs
Did you ever wonder
Why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky
Did you see the frightened ones
Did you hear the falling bombs
The flames are all long gone
But the pain lingers on
Goodbye blue sky
Goodbye blue sky

How dare you Mr. President?
I could not stop laughing my heart out or to be more generous lungs out when I read this news in ToI.( well I expect this from ToI as it was present on their front page).
There are 2 conclusions that I can draw from the same.
1) One of the very weird fatwa's
2) Mr. Sarkozy(with all due respect to the french people) would be hanged.People say that why am I after him.( after all he got the prettiest of all).

My experiment with 55 :D
He stands in the middle of the D wearing a blue jersey, facing the green one and on the verge of making history. The refree whistles. A moment of silence. Blue is kneeling down at the same place surrounded by greens with his face sunk in his chest. Brazil rejoices while Italy can't believe.
A Hero falls.
An instance from the penalty shoot out in the 1994 world cup which brazil won because Roberto Baggio could not convert the decisive penalty.

To cut a long story short
I read about the concept of 55 fiction (wikipedia link) while doing some random surfing. And indeed it is a very potent idea.
Just go through this blog \Love and Longing. Aptly titled. I am pretty much sure anybody can conjure an idea in 55 words but can it be as moving and potent?

Comfortable
Well if things are perfect then it doesnt mean that they have to last forever. And that is the irony, because from there on one has to just compromise.
Listening to song Comfortable by John Mayer.
....
She thinks I can't see the smile thats she's faking
And poses for pictures that aren't being taken
I loved you
Gray sweatpants
No makeup
So perfect

Heard it in the movie "Namesake". Originally from movie "Yahudi". The song has been sung by Susheela Raman.

Bangalore Rains
Rain rain go away,
Dont ever come again another day
Frustrated Rahul wants to go to office some day (without being drench)
The bangalore rains can either make you very romantic (if you have a partner) or will make you very angry (like me).
Love it or Loathe it but you cannot ignore it. :||
Every other day while returning from office, I am getting wet. All my shoes, Jeans, T-shirt are wet.So now I have started keeping an extra pair of clothes and shoes in my bag especially for Bangalore rains.
Solution :- Buy a Car.
Immediate solution :- stop going to office on bike.

I feel good about life(la vie en rose)
Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose.......
Recently I saw the movie WALL-E and no doubt that it was one of the finest I have seen.I liked the sweet and beautiful love story of WALL-E and EVE.
And indeed one of the finest sequence was the dance in the space by WALL-E and EVE. The captain of the ship asks the robot to define dancing and there we see WALL-E and EVE dancing rhythmically.
Getting back to the point....
Well I am not an exponent of Jazz music but I heard the voice of Louis Armstrong in the movie singing "la vie en rose". This is a french sentence and exact translation in english is "I see life in pink". Well it literally means, This is life.
The song is played when WALL-E is following EVE on her mission. There is an inherent beauty about this song and the way the trumpet is played.Especially when you are listening the same in complete silence and you are transported to a different world. Planning to listen to some more of louis armstrong and the some more of classic Jazz.
Some more research has yielded that this song was orignially sung by french singer Edit Piaf and there is also an oscar winning movie on her life titled la vie en rose (next in line to be watched).
When you kiss me heaven sighs
And tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose.........

Simply "Rock On"-Nothing more
+ve
1) Arjun Rampal's wife
2) Farhan Akhtar's Vocals
3) Music .They have a purpose in the movie :)
-ve
1) Farhan Akhtar's Wife ( she looked like a big dumbo)
2) Very predictable story line
3) What was that guy Luke kenny(or whatever his name was) doing? I am gonna die and want to perform on the stage before I die.
4) Westernized Rock and not Indianized( my personal opinion). By Indianized, I dont mean singing in Hindi. There have been English rock numbers by Indian Bands too.
5) Hypocrisy (writing Hindi songs in English)
So overall a chocolaty movie but an effort that should be applauded.
Watched it, went home, slept, started my normal routine next day. But I should have also followed my dreams in between (may be in dreams though)

waah ustaad waah
After watching the movie "Mumbai meri Jaan", I was awestruck on the simplicity of the movie and the intricacies of human thought it portrayed.
Hats off to Nishikant Kamat on coming with such a beautiful spectacle on the celluloid that is simply a treat to watch.
I liked the end of the movie a lot.Not like every other feature where everything is good, hunky-dory in the end and you go home smiling with tears of joy. Well some would certainly say that this is the purpose of the movie. For me movie is not a way to relax. Its a medium, and a very potent medium to make people think. And for my case I prefer the kind of movies that will make me think and could relate it to the real life.
The movie ended on a vey simple note, with a song from the old Hindi movie CID
"Aie Dil hai mushkil jeena yahan,
Jara hat ke, Jara bach ke,
Ye hai Bombay meri Jaan"
With the song in the background and real life pictures of the serial blasts in Mumbai local trains.
The various stories interwined in the feature
1) An IT professional whose sense of paranoia makes him look out for a life better worth living.
2) A news reporter, reminiscent of the current masala news channel, and the way she copes after becoming a victim.
3) A small time Tea vendor who is caught up in a dream world until he is ostracized by the socially affluent class
4) A Police inspector who is seeing his life and his dreams crumbling in front of him but is helpless and cannot do anything
5) An unemployed youth who takes up the cudgel of doing ethnic cleansing on himself.
And a common police inspector on the verge of retirement, who still finds hope amidst this chaos.
I dont think that any ways this movie salutes the so called undying spirit of Mumbai. And I dont even subscribe to this thought. I would define this as insensitiveness or "who even cares" attitude. The bottomline is, I dont care what happens to this world, I have a stomach to feed and I will have to run for my work. Come what may. That is the harsh reality and we dont want to come out of this vicious circle.

Beijing olympics
A spectable that will be emblazoned in the memory for times to come.A sign for the world to wake up and listen to an asian dragon leeping across the horizons and making sure that world notices it.
And Indeed I am lucky enough to have watched this.It would have been a real pleasure had India done the same feet.May be someday we will.
This olympics bought some of the real beautiful moments that will be etched in the memory for times to come.
The best one is the classic singature from Usain Bolt.
Do read this article courtesy rediff which captures 10 of the most beautiful moments from olympics.Beijing Olympics

who's right and who's not?
Well its a much discussed tea table issue. Atleast in our country. Who is right? You or your parents? As far as marraige is concerned, it is very contentious. one can take their personal decisions on any other issue ( career, friends, etc.). No parents object to the same.
So here we are standing at the point in life taking a major decision in life to spend the whole life with a person about whom the parents are not approving.
Now the question is how to decide who's right and who is not?And how can one decide? the most subtle argument is "For a person whom you know for a few moments, you can forget the whole life spent with us".
Indeed very subtle. But there is no fine line dividing the decisions as to who is right and not wrong. Its absolute.Either parents or not.
Something more interesting to read about
Love wrong,Parents right?
Listening to song "In between"- Linkin park

Rise of the Titan
Now this is what I call a bold statement.Do you have guts?
Do you have a choice?
Never thought that anybody would call shots on the world superpower.
Looks like we are again heading for the good old 60's. The same old cold war era.

Value
Read it somewhere on the posts on Abhinav winning the gold medal for India.
What will chinese know about winning gold medal. They are just winning. See what one gold medal has done to us. We know the value of that one gold medal.
Is it?

I believe by the time olympics are over, we see a marvellous genius for generations to come. And here I am witness to history being created.
Only concern remains is that there should not be any doping controversy arising and making a mess of this awesome feet.
Till that time(which I hope should not come), see the genius and his guts to rise up to the challenge each and every time. "Eye of the tiger"

Finally Bangalored
So after the so called heavy weeks workout, the time to chillax was near in form of weekend. So finally decided to land up in the discotheque. One of the very prominent ones in bangalore.
And here we are. The first thing we got to know is there is no doscotheque in bangalore. And drinking and dancing is not allowed. So no more issues.Lets go and chill.Have some beer with good music.Point to be noted is that cops will be sitting inside to make sure everybody adheres to the rules and remain sober.
Now, first thing one must remember is to place an order before 11 PM. and make sure to get your bills cleared before 11.25 PM. and run for cover by 11.30 or you will be wrapped up by the police officials.
So ladies and Gentleman, run for cover. If you somehow manage to miss your dinner by 11.30 PM. Forget it. Go home and cook something.
Viva la Vida bangalore.

WWE
I used to watch it a lot during my school days. Lately I am watching courtesy my friend who puts it on whenver I am there in front of TV.
Yesterday, there was a match between the Indian wrestler , the great khali and another wrestler rey mesterio. Now why this fight was special coz, khali is more than 7 feet tall and a huge built while rey mesterio is just not more than 5.5 ft tall or to be more specific, like any normal human being.
The commentators said something which I liked a lot.
"It's not the size of the man in the fight that matters,
It's the size of the fight in the man that matters".
:)

Music : food for thought
As musical instruments, I consider Piano and violin as very beautiful instruments. Their beauty lies in the fact that the emotions that they can conjure up within a human heart. A feeling of love, feeling of sadness, feeling of joy.
Lately I have been hearing to a lot of musical soundtracks and was trying to recollect some of them where these 2 instruments have really shown their prowess.
At the top, I will rate the theme song from movie Schindler's List. Listening to violin in the movie will make you cry.It does convey a lot of emotions. And the most inherent is the feeling of sadness and helplessness.Just close your eyes and listen to the same and feel whatever you want to feel and it will take you to that pinnacle. Even the movie too makes you feel the same way. The violin in the movie is played by Itzhak Perlman. This music conveys so much of sadness and feels like as if violin itself is crying.
I also heard the piano from the movie Love story. The music of the piano contains a lot of sadness in the same.I believe on the youtube, some of the music pieces played on the piano other than the movie soundtrack are brilliant. As the movie piece is a mixture of lot many instruments. Frankly, the movie was not that strong as its music.
Also looking on the youtube, I came across some of the piano pieces which have been described as Relaxing music. And they are indeed so relaxing. No more sadness. just plain old simplicity. After listening to these piano music, I felt about the most simple things in life. Like a smile, the rain, sunrise, wind , moon, sleep etc. etc.
I came across a very strange instrument that I never thought can do the same as piano and violin. A bagpiper. And it has been captured beautifully in the movie Titanic. The soundtracks in the movie give a feeling of an unrequited and eternal love. One can feel the same.
One of the soundtrack from the movie titanic that catches your breath and emotion.Piano piece from titanic.
I cant forget to mention the title soundtrack from the movie, The notebook. Very slow and beautifully crafted one on piano.
Some more notable soundtracks/Theme music
- Forest Gump
- Life is beautiful
- Chariots of fire
- Platoon
- Saving Private Ryan
And godfather of all
- The Godfather
All good movies had even greater soundtrack.
Not to mention, on my trip to budapest, I heard the piano in one of the restaurant. And they played Frank Sinatra's My Way. Check the link. I indeed captured it on a video. A very beautiful rendition of one of the classics.
My Way.
Apologies for the background noise. Couldnt help it but wanted to capture this song.

Life or something like it -2
Things that I have learnt in the last 27 years of my existence.I am not a perfectionist. But for sure I will try to work on things which I have realized.I have not copied these from anywhere.I am writing this from whatever experiences I had.Nothing emotional about it.Just plain and simple me.
Never take anyone for granted
Expect the unexpected
You will feel heartbroken at some point in life
Life is a full circle.Things do come back to you in some form or other
You get very few chances to be happy.Just enjoy them
Memory is short lived.Dont depend on it.Although its painful
Love is not eternal but love for sure is blind
Its not always bed of roses in relationships. But it counts a lot when its thorny
Sometimes you are in love, sometimes you have to work for it to be in love
Every damn person on this planet earth will change except your parents
More than your time, value others time
Get the best for yourself whatever you can get
All one needs is a partner for who will company you in this journey of life.Make this journey a real pleasent one
Happiness is certainly not governed by money but not also without it.Its best realized when you have a person to share.
Not everybody has the patience to listen to you.
Its your luck if you find a shoulder to lean on whenever you need
Nothing can match the feeling of hug
Indifference causes more pain than hate
No need to proove anything to anybody. Those who need you dont need that proof and those who dont wont care for that proof.

Calvin & hobbes
Found on my friends orkut profile ......
Calvin: Wow, it really snowed last night! Isn't it wonderful?
Hobbes: Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!
Calvin: A new year, a fresh clean start!
Hobbes: It's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!
Calvin: A day full of possibilities. It's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... Let's go exploring.

Life or something like it :)
Marvin ( A disgustingly hopeless cynic robot from Hitchhikers guide to galaxy)said this
Life, loathe it or ignore it, you can't like it.

Fond memories
Sometimes some people just come and leave you and go but the a single moment they give to you is more than a thousand moments that come your way.
I experienced the same when I returned back from Hungary(was there for a month or so).As soon as I returned I met that person (though I was very tired from my flight and the horrenduous experience I had). But the hug I got took away all the pains and refreshed me.
The hug and the moment of closeness I felt can match nothing.Seriously :).
Check out the person over here.Photo courtesy Rinku.
Me and Sammy
And the best one :).

Now Why am I missing him is because his father ( our very own kaptaan sahib) got transferred to Noida :)

I like beer
I love beer :D - My friend sent me this song.
Lyrics I Like Beer - Tom T. Hall
--------------------------------
In some of my songs I have casually mentioned
The fact that I like to drink beer
But this little song is more to the point
so roll out the barrel and lend me your ear
(chorus)
I like beer It makes me a jolly good fellow
I like beer It helps me unwind and sometime it makes me feel mellow
(makes him feel mellow)
Whiskeys too rough
Champaign cost too much
vodka puts my mouth in gear
This little refrain should help me explain
as a matter of fact I like beer
My wife often frowns when we're out on the town
I'm wearing a suit and a tie
She's sipping vermouth and she thinks I'm uncouth
When I yell when the waiter walks by
(Chorus)
Last night I dreamed that I passed from the scene
and I went to a place so sublime
the water was clear and it tasted like beer
then they turned it all into wine (ahhhh)
(Chorus)
(Yes he likes beer)

one more time....Another brick on the wall
This is from KORN.
Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
A snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave behind for me?
Daddy what d'ya leave behind for me?!
All in all it was just a brick in the wall
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey, Teachers! Leave those kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey, Teacher! Leave those kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
I don't need no arms around me
I don't need no drugs to calm me
I have seen the writing on the wall
Don't think I need anything at all
No, Don't think I need anything at all
All in all it was just bricks in the wall
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall
Goodbye cruel world, I'm leaving you today
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye all you people, there's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind.
Goodbye...
Everybody has just been another brick in the wall.
But I dont want to be one.May be thats just a thought, but I dont want to be one.
The best one is
I don't need no arms around me
I don't need no drugs to calm me
I have seen the writing on the wall
Don't think I need anything at all
No, Don't think I need anything at all
All in all it was just bricks in the wall
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall
Cheers PINK FLOYD.

unkWriting this post when I am drunk
Listening to Pink Floyd-Coming Back to life
Where were you when I was burned and broken
While the days slipped by from my window watching
Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun
Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of live and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but
Irresistable pas-time
I took a heavenly ride through one silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life
I took a heavenly ride trough our silence
I knew the waiting had begin
And headed straight... into the shining sun
But I still dont believe that "Evrything happens for good and its gonna be right in the end."... This is your day and make full out if it..nobody knows wats gonna happen in future than how can you say everything will be allright.......Just stupid stuff.

To Infinity...........And beyond
Needless to say I fell in love with this character once I saw the movie Toy Story part 1 & 2. Guess who --
One and only BUZZ LIGHTYEAR.

A visit to Holocaust museum
I visited the Holocaust museum in Budapest and this one was worth the visit. They had a synagogue which was converted into a Holocaust museum.
It showed the complete history of the holocaust even before WW II.
What was interesting was the way they had designed the museum. It showed videos, pictures and lots of artifacts belonging to Jewish People. The closest to a picture of holocaust I have seen is in the movie "Schindler's List".
One day I will visit Aushwitz concentration camp.Things to do in my list.Just not this time :)
Some pictures from the museum.

View inside the museum taken in night mode. The ambience added to the mood.

Missing :(
There I was walking alone in the streets. In such a romantic city.Missing something.Dont knw what.May be a hand to hold on to :(.
A funny incident or not
I was hungry after the whole process of managing to reach my hotel. Was thinking of having some snacks.Nothin better than French fries. But how to ask them as nobody knows english. Somehow in one shop I saw a picture and pointed towards it.The shop owner gave a nod and said some strange name.I am not even sure what is language spoken here.
Bye the way to the so called funny part.I was dressed up like a tourist with a backpack, camera hanging from my neck and map in other hand. The curious shop owner asked me from where was I? I told him from India.Ok everything's fine that he knows India atleast. Then what's my purpose.(well the whole discussion happened in sign languages and a bit of broken english here and there which is difcult to write over here :D ).I said "On my company visit".Now that was really difficult to explain via sign langguage. So here comes the magic. He was billing on his computer and I said "Software". There was a smile on his face."Oh Software".Kool , I was successful in making him understand my purpose or really. Still the funny part has not come.SO there he says "You are lucky".Now what does he mean."In India people are hungry and you have the pleasure to eat so many things".
Now that is India my friends.A land of snake charmers,Naked kids running on the streets, saints, hungry people. What to say, I could not explain him better via either broken english or sign languages. I simply said "you are right" by giving thumbs up.

People who watch Discovery channel religiously need not be told about the person mentioned above. For the others, he is the host of the show "Globetrotters" now aired mostly on Travel and living.
Travelling in budapest made me feel like him. That was one of my dreams to be a travel correspondent.

My flight from Frankfurt to budapest
I was the only Indian in the flight :D.Finally some uniqueness that everybody was noticing me.Or may be because I was the only non white :D. Racist huh!!!!!!
What an experience OMG @ Lufthansa
Somehow all the national carriers have a sense of security that in case they are going to get their salary at the end of the day and then why the hell should I care?
For the first time in my life I was boarding a 747, the legend that has made airbus bring out A380.The double decker. Well it was really good to see 2 floors inside a plane. But thats where all the excitment ended.Especially if you have got the Middle seat :(
The AC was not working and reason some problem and hence when they switch on the engine then the AC will be powered.Amazing experience till the time plane was ready to take off.
anyways, jokes apart, its been last 1/2 hr since I have pressed the sign for air hostess to come and give me some mints. One came pretty close but she didnt even paid attention to the sign.
Last time I travelled in Emirates and that was one experience worth remembering.Even the Dubai airport was worth seeing.

BIAL Rocks :)
Experimenting with WIFI facility @ BIAL. (Bengaluru International Airport Limited).Dunno whether its free or not.It asked me to send SMS to a no to get password.Hope so It doesnt gets charged on my mobile phone bill.Although the connection is unsecured and the web page openend said FEE INTERNET ACCESS.
Pretty decent airport.Atleast even if there are some loopholes but still they did a commendable job.Hats off to the people who made it a success.(cynics will always have a reason).
Although mood is a bit down still loving it...Right now leaving for frankfurt and then to budapest.God only knows what will I do in budapest :(.
At night the airport looks awesome.the ATC is worth looking for.And at night it glows in all its splendour.
Time to leave.next time from Frankfurt if i get time to shuffle between 2 flights.just one hour gap.hope so I am able to make it.
PS:- I played a video on youtube and it was streaming.Good job Albert Brunner

Sent by my friend to me
Forget about the Days when you've been Lonely.
But don't forget the Friendly Smiles you've seen.
Forget about the Days when it has been Cloudy.
But don't forget Your Hour in the Sun.
Forget about the Time when you've been Defeated
But don't forget the Victories you've won.
Forget about the Misfortunes which you Encountered.
But don't forget the Times your Luck has turned.
Forget about the Mistakes that you can't Change.
But don't forget the Lesson that you've learnt.
But don't forget the Friendly Smiles you've seen.

Song by Bryan Adams(dont like much of his songs... though...)
When you love someone - you'll do anything
you'll do all the crazy things that you can't explain
you'll shoot the moon - put out the sunwhen you love someone
you'll deny the truth - believe a lie
there'll be times that you'll believe you can really fly
but your lonely nights - have just begunwhen you love someone
when you love someone - you'll feel it deep inside
and nothin else can ever change your mind
when you want someone - when you need someone
when you need someone...
when you love someone - you'll sacrifice
you'd give it everything you got and you won't think twice
you'd risk it all - no matter what my come
when you love someone
you'll shoot the moon - put out the sunwhen you love someone

Distances do matter
Let all the romantics have a notion in their mind that "Distances makes heart go fonder".
All the ignobles out there will say... "Distances does matter"....and thats a VERDICT.

My Views
Things to do this valentine.
IF you are engaged.
1) Learn a very romantic song to play on guitar and surprise her/him ;).(Hope that your better half appreciates the same).
For singles.
1) Learn a very romantic song to play on guitar and surprise yourself.Mind you being single wont even matter anymore once you accomplish the same.
My Choice:-
Autumn leaves - Frank Sinatra. Watch this wonderful rendition by Eva Cassidy. I never knew about this but after listening to her, I listened to her other albums too
